Because... because Kaz has us. All of us, in general, those he cares about, to worry about him. But we, his blade... well. We were there. We saw him die, or heard him die, and there really isn't any way to get used to losing someone. Especially if you consider most of our stories.

[A mage who lost his family to a demon who may well be his sister. A Changeling who spent five hundred years in Arcadia being violated by fairies. A Bladian who lost her entire blade to a too-powerful monstrosity. A Sin-Eater who had, until recently, thought that his mother abandoned his family to be turned into a weapon, then died of a disease that took away his greatest passion as well. A Promethean who lost countless friends in war after war after war.

Yeah. They've all lost a lot. And they almost lost Kaz.]
