Waking the Dead 2.0 || August 9, 2063 || Tuesday

[Dinner is served late in the mess hall because it's a grand banquet in honor of the Magistrate of Kibo. It's a pretty modest celebration, all things considered: the people at Kibo are invited, along with her family, any Searing Wind members who feel like dropping in from wherever they've been as of late, and a few friends among the other Keepers of the Vigil. That's about it.

Still, Kalika looks like she's having fun. Her husband and her children are, of course, all in attendance, together with her husband's familiars and the entire division of the Strays from Seigi. The food, mind you, is excellent, and there is more than enough booze.

You're welcome to come and go as you please. Kalika's easy like that.]

OOC Notes:
+ Will have some threads for NPCs of note, but just to give you a general idea: many members of the three blades are in attendance, along with pretty much anyone whom Kalika views as family. If you want to request for somebody, lemme know!
+ Debby and Noey: feel free to put your NPCs in here. =w=
+ Feel free to start your own threads too. Just specify if it's open to all, or if you're going to thread something out with a particular PC.

[This one has nothing but respect for Deirdra Max, Reyna ng Streets. On that note, he's approaching her to ask about a special project he's been engaged on for a while.

In retrospect, maybe he should have asked her blessing before he started, but given that he hasn't been harmed yet, it's probably safe to say he hasn't trod on any toes.]

Good evening, ma'am. Would you mind if I joined you for a moment? I don't think we've been formally introduced. [He holds out his hand.] Estanislao Marasigan, War Hound.

Not at all.

[ Taking his hand and giving him a firm handshake. ]

The mage in my nephew's blade, right?

[This handshake is firm but not hand-breaking. Well, of course a Riskbreaker of her caliber would know how to police her strength.

It also means that she is not displeased at him. Good. The Batmanning wasn't really much of a secret, so she would have found out, sooner or later. It is her turf, after all.]

Yes ma'am, that's me.

[Sits down, and cocks his head to one side, curious at her tone.]

Is anything the matter with Kaz?

[personal profile] inqdeirdra 2014-04-22 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A small smile at that. ]

You probably know more than I do. You're often together.

[He cocks his head to one side, considering her words. That's certainly true, but...]

You are worried about him?

[ A quirk appears on one corner of her lips, forming into a small smile. It almost looks animal-like, probably because she picked it up from Kalika and Cisco. ]

He's like family. Kind of like my son, though he is technically a grand-nephew.

[Taning notes that smile. He hasn't seen it from Cisco, but has definitely seen Kalika use it. The sheer familiarity of it overcomes whatever flight instinct it might have instilled in him.]

He's taking things pretty well, it seems. If anything, it feels like it was harder for the rest of the blade than it was for him.

[After all, Kaz was asleep through his death. Everyone else was, well, practically mourning him.]

[personal profile] inqdeirdra 2014-05-10 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hm.

[ One of her brows furrow slightly. ]

Why do you say that? [ Not that this one finds anything wrong with what you said. She just really wants to know what's on your mind. ]

Because... because Kaz has us. All of us, in general, those he cares about, to worry about him. But we, his blade... well. We were there. We saw him die, or heard him die, and there really isn't any way to get used to losing someone. Especially if you consider most of our stories.

[A mage who lost his family to a demon who may well be his sister. A Changeling who spent five hundred years in Arcadia being violated by fairies. A Bladian who lost her entire blade to a too-powerful monstrosity. A Sin-Eater who had, until recently, thought that his mother abandoned his family to be turned into a weapon, then died of a disease that took away his greatest passion as well. A Promethean who lost countless friends in war after war after war.

Yeah. They've all lost a lot. And they almost lost Kaz.]
