[Dinner is served late in the mess hall because it's a grand banquet in honor of the Magistrate of Kibo. It's a pretty modest celebration, all things considered: the people at Kibo are invited, along with her family, any Searing Wind members who feel like dropping in from wherever they've been as of late, and a few friends among the other Keepers of the Vigil. That's about it.

Still, Kalika looks like she's having fun. Her husband and her children are, of course, all in attendance, together with her husband's familiars and the entire division of the Strays from Seigi. The food, mind you, is excellent, and there is more than enough booze.

You're welcome to come and go as you please. Kalika's easy like that.]

Well, yes and no. Nico's got his own thing, and so do I... Maybe it's because I want to keep a closer eye on my Blademates, and my brothers.

[Yes, this reminds him of the conversation he had with Kaiser Lia in Naufragio. The hopeful glimmer in his eyes would tell you that it pleases him greatly that Hikaru is one of his Social Links. If only that it affirms what he's always believed: Hikaru's not a karmic freak, no matter how much he says it.]

Ah, well. It's the universe's job to move slow.

[If it didn't, all of the things within it might not be able to keep up... that is, at least, Kalika's thinking.]

That means it's our job to make it understand when we need it to.

[The boy nods at that point, and then he decides that he shouldn't keep the Magistrate to himself all night.]

Then I suppose there's a bit more work to be done. Brother Death told me that unless I can somehow fix the Arcana, it'll stay at Rank Three. But then...

[Rank Three already had him impervious to fire, and he'd have to read up more on Devil, because he really hadn't.]

There'll be time, right?
