[Dinner is served late in the mess hall because it's a grand banquet in honor of the Magistrate of Kibo. It's a pretty modest celebration, all things considered: the people at Kibo are invited, along with her family, any Searing Wind members who feel like dropping in from wherever they've been as of late, and a few friends among the other Keepers of the Vigil. That's about it.

Still, Kalika looks like she's having fun. Her husband and her children are, of course, all in attendance, together with her husband's familiars and the entire division of the Strays from Seigi. The food, mind you, is excellent, and there is more than enough booze.

You're welcome to come and go as you please. Kalika's easy like that.]

[ She averts her gaze from the door to Aria. Deirdra processes Aria's question for a quick moment and takes a sip of her beer. ]

[The two of you have kind of lived together for ages.]

[ Her lip twitches to a smile for a while. ]

Yeah... [ She trails off for a bit. ] I was kinda there.

Ah, right.

[She had heard from Anton, and had watched the video feeds, and read the post-engagement debriefing.]

Liandrin has told me, though, that he's fine.

[ She nods. ]

Yeah, I hope he really is. If anything, I'm...quite happy he was uh, reborn as a Card. It's just that thing that came before.

[ Doing a small wave with her right hand going to the left to indicate that teensy little important detail that yeaaahhh Kaz died. o_o ]

David died well before we met him.

Yeah, so I suppose it doesn't quite count. This case is different.

[And Kaz is kind of like a surrogate son to many of them because of his grandmother.]

He's probably going to come here. The rest of the Hounds appear to be around.

I'm sure he will, he's a really sweet kid. Doesn't seem like the type who'd miss something like this.

[ She grins at Aria. ]

We had our fair share of that happening though.

[Chuckling at that.]

Yeaaaah, we really did, huh? I think we were still worse than these kids so far.

[ Chuckling back at you, hihi. ]

So far being the operative word. We were quite the messy bunch.

Messy and a little on the crazy side too.

[Now she's looking nostalgic.]

We really should find time to get together.

[ And that infects Deirdra. ]

We should. And not just during birthdays.

That is so true. The question is, how do we do it?

Fake an emergency?

[ In a very serious face. You know how she thinks, sister. 50 years down the line and Deirdra still has the space to think like a teenager at times. Maybe because now things are relatively good. There is some time for candidness. ]

I'm fresh out on fake emergencies that could get some of the strongest Keepers of the Vigil up in arms and running home.

Well. Desperate times. Though hopefully we're not going to have to resort to that.

[ She smiles. ]

I would think that asking for an hour isn't that big of a request.

No kidding.

[SIGH.]

We're going to have to double team, and maybe get some help.

[A lot of help.]

Sounds like a mission, then.

[And now she's getting that :o!!! Eureka Look of hers.]

You know... we could actually make it a mission.

[ She chuckles. ]

Just like old times. What do you have in mind?

[Looking thoughtful for a second.]

Well, maybe we could all take a field trip to Arcis and help out? That's something light enough to not put us all in crazy situations, but challenging enough to force us to work together.

[Just like old times.]

[ Taking a sip of her drink, thinking about it. ]

That sounds good. I've been meaning to pay a visit to Arcis. I think Gideon would like to see the place as well.

I've heard that the work that's being done there is amazing, so it'll be a sight to see. Kind of like how New Atlantis was, when we were all getting together to help Elias and 108 out with it.

[Good times, good times.]

Hell, we can even bring Dove, Cen, and Bonnie. We could have a picnic too.

[ Ah, yes. ;w; ]

A picnic would be nice. I bet the rest really miss your cooking already.

[ She chuckles. ] Nothing beats home-cooked food, after all. [ Home being that huge household many of them shared that kind of became an informal meeting place for most. ]
